Hi! I'm MyKeshea Bowles. You can call me Ms. M. I'm originally from Georgia, but I have been living in Arizona for the past 13 years. I attended university in Idaho where I student taught and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. In my spare time, I love to read, watch court trials, color, and play board games. My personal reading goal for 2025 is 30 books. One of my favorite book series is Harry Potter.
Be sure to stop by the library and say "hi!" If you're looking for a book recommendation, I just may have one or two for you!
Students from kindergarten through the 6th grade may check out books as follows:
Kindergarten - 1 book for 1 week
1st Grade - 1 book for 1 week
2nd Grade - 2 books for 2 weeks
3rd - 6th Grades - 2 books for 2 weeks
Books may be renewed one time if there are no holds on the title. Students must have the library book with them in order to renew it. Library privileges are suspended until an overdue book is returned, renewed, replaced or paid for, if lost or damaged.
It is suggested to students that books are to be kept in their backpacks when they are not being read. This will allow students to have their library books when their class visits the LMC and to protect the books from harm. Please be mindful of water bottles placed in backpacks as this can quickly ruin books! Always use the outside holders.
Please remember… students are responsible for the books they check out. If a book is damaged or lost, the student will be asked to pay for the book or replace it with the exact title, preferably a hard bound copy. Until the book is paid for, replaced, or returned, a student’s check out privileges will be suspended. The care of books helps maintain our library collection for all of our students. Fines can be paid in person with exact change or online.
If parents would like to limit the number of books their child can check out, they may do so by contacting the Library/Media Clerk via e-mail at mykeshea.bowles@dvusd.org.
DVUSD Internet Usage
Computers are available for student use during regularly scheduled class time or during recess with a pass from the teacher. They may be used for assigned class work, research, and testing. Students and parents/guardians must read and understand the Internet & E-Mail User Agreement before students are allowed to use the computers. Students MAY NOT download any programs from the internet on any school computers. Computers are monitored and privileges can be revoked for violations of this agreement. The District offers students space on the server to save school projects on the student's "U" drive; however, students must provide their own USB drive to save files for use elsewhere.
Library fines may be paid in person with cash/check or via https://az-deervalley.intouchreceipting.com/. Directions for paying online are below.
Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in fifth and sixth grade. Students read books and come together to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read. The competitions are lively and academic. Battle of the Books improves reading comprehension, builds vocabulary, and teaches teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Fifth and sixth grade students will be teamed in groups of no more than three (with a maximum of 30 teams per school) to compete and test their knowledge in three exciting school competitions/battles during the school year. There will be three battles throughout the school year. The top team from all three battles will move to district competition.
